Fountain, Opposite 26 Bridge Road, Monkstown, Newtownabbey, Co. Antrim

This is a roadside fountain located opposite 26 Bridge Road, Monkstown, Newtownabbey, County Antrim. The fountain’s construction date is estimated to be between 1920 and 1939. It features a plain, fluted column and was originally inscribed "Kennedy, Kilmarnock" on its internal mechanism. The spout is missing, and the water likely issued through a cap that is also no longer present. The fountain stood beside the bridge parapet and opposite a terrace of houses. The pump mechanism has now been removed. The fountain appeared on Ordnance Survey maps from 1938 to 1951. The fountain is recorded as derelict and holds some industrial archaeological interest.
