Description
Right one of a pair of three-storey/ two-bay houses fronting the south side of Sandys Street. These houses are the mirror image of each other. This building is of skew plan form, the gable not being at right angles to the facade. Pitched artificial slate roof. Rendered chimney on right gable. Half-round metal gutters with downpipe to right on facade. Walls to street are painted, lined and rendered, with raised eaves course. At left is main door, with single granite step up from street. To its right is a single storey canted bay with plain cornice around parapeted flat-roof; downpipe to left. This cornice continues as a two-step platband between ground and first floor. Bay has sliding sash windows to each face. All ground floor openings are sheeted with plywood. First and second floor windows, in line with one another but offset to right of ground floor openings, are now infilled. Top floor windows diminish in height, and all cills are painted granite. House separated from footpath by wall which comprises a rendered and chamfered plinth surmounted by a rendered brick wall which returns on either side of entrance steps. Right gable is abutted by lower building; exposed section of wall is rendered. Left gable forms party wall with adjoining house (HB 16/28/084b). No access could be gained to rear elevation.
