The Satellite Café, 13 Kilmorey Street, Newry, Co Down, BT34 2DF

The Satellite Café is a two-storey house, constructed between 1820 and 1839. It is located on Kilmorey Street, Newry, in the townland of Ballynacraig. The building is much altered and is not of special architectural or historical interest, although it retains notable character as a shop largely unaltered from the 1950s and 1960s.

The house has a gabled roof covered with asbestos slate, and rendered cement walls. The ground floor features a black-tiled shop front dating from the 1950s, with a central doorway containing two stained glass doors and a transom light above. Large square windows are positioned on either side of the doorway. Above the doorway are three-dimensional white italic letters spelling ‘The Satellite’. A blue bulb is housed in a circular black fitting situated between the words "The" and "Satellite." The first and second floors contain two modern top-hung windows each, with vertical letters spelling "café" set between them, alongside an internally lit projecting sign.

An earlier building is represented on the 1835 Ordnance Survey map, and was occupied by Miss Thompson according to valuation records from 1835. Valuation records from 1863 describe the building as having three storeys.
