This is a single-storey, two-bay vernacular house, dating from approximately 1800 to 1819, situated on a south-facing slope of Knockshee in the townland of Ballintur, near Rostrevor. The house is an interesting survivor of vernacular architecture, though its character has been diminished by later alterations and repairs.

The house has a pitched roof covered in natural slate, with brick verges and a single red brick chimney positioned centrally. There are no rainwater goods. The walls are constructed from random rubble, partially covered with a rough plaster finish. A large boulder forms a base stone at the left corner of the front facade. The main elevation faces south, and features a shallow monopitched porch on the right side, containing a painted tongue-and-groove half-door. Each bay contains a small 2/2 sliding sash window. The right gable is adjoined by a modern extension, while the left gable forms a party wall with the remains of a ruined adjoining building. The rear elevation has two small windows, one in each bay: the window on the left is a 1/1 sliding sash, and the one on the right is a modern top-hung casement. The extension is a modern timber structure with external posts and rafters supporting an inner skin of corrugated plastic sheeting. The ruins of two similar houses are located to the rear and left of the property.

The house is depicted on the 1834 Ordnance Survey 6-inch map as part of a larger clachan settlement. It was not, however, included in the 1838 Valuation records, as its assessed value was under £5.
