Ballycarry Primary School is a modern school building constructed in 1953 and opened on November 5th, 1953. It represents an example of post-war architecture, utilizing prefabricated aluminium units—a construction method of innovative interest at the time. This school was the 28th in Northern Ireland built using this system, developed by the Bristol Aeroplane Company and manufactured by Shorts in Belfast. The building exhibits an asymmetrical layout, composed of aluminium prefabricated units and a red brick block. It features flange-like supports to the roof along one side, and the roofs are covered with felt. The school stands on the edge of the village of Ballycarry, in a rural location close to the main road, making it visible from that route. While initially innovative, the building is not a pioneering example of this construction type and no longer stands in its original condition.
