Mill Bridge, Deer Park Road, Deer Park Farms, Glenarm, Ballymena, Co Antrim

The Mill Bridge carries Deer Park Road over the Glenarm River, approximately 5 miles south of Glenarm. It is a single-arch road bridge likely dating from before 1832, although some rebuilding may have occurred over time. The bridge is constructed from largely squared basalt rubble. It features a semicircular arch with rough voussoirs, and a rendered intrados rising from a concrete base. The eastern face is largely obscured by vegetation, but appears to have battered abutments on either side of the arch. The western face has a rendered battered abutment to the south side of the arch, with an abutment on the north side incorporated into the river bank. Metal tie rods have been inserted into the structure, and the bridge is flanked by low parapets with concrete coping; the western parapet continues as a low wall alongside a farm laneway to the south. A bridge is depicted on Ordnance Survey maps from 1832 onwards. The structure is considered to have industrial archaeological interest.
