Description
This is a single-arch road bridge, likely constructed between 1820 and 1839, built of random basalt rubble with dressed voussoirs to the semicircular arch. The bridge carries Deer Park Road across the Glenarm River, approximately six miles southwest of Glenarm. A smaller pedestrian archway is situated to the east side of the main arch. Metal tie rods have been inserted into the bridge structure, and low parapets are topped with rendered coping. The bridge appears on Ordnance Survey maps from 1832 onwards, suggesting its existence at that time. While much of the visible structure likely dates to before 1832, some rebuilding is probable for a structure of this type. The bridge holds industrial archaeological interest and is of local historical significance. It is owned by central government.
