Description

The building comprises a stable and byre, constructed between 1900 and 1919 and located on the east side of Corraghy Townland. It is incorporated into a bank, occupying an elevated site and forming a cohesive group with a nearby turf house and sweat house.

The two-storey building, with a hayloft above, is oriented northeast-southwest. It features a pitched roof covered in natural slate with half-round metal rainwater goods. The walls are constructed of random sandstone rubble, recently repointed with cement, with large dressed sandstone quoins. Openings have sandstone lintels and flush stone cills. The principal elevation faces southeast. A third line of stepped quoins to the left indicates a later extension. A modern, timber-clad door is present on the extended left side; a pair of timber-clad doors, with dressed and tooled reveals, are centered on the original elevation alongside single-pane, top-hung casement windows to either side. Two window openings are on the first floor, one aligned with the left-hand door and another slightly left of centre above the paired doors. The left gable is blank. The rear elevation, built into the bank and single-storey, has modern, timber-clad doors at each end, leading to the first-floor hayloft. Access to the raised bank is provided by nine external steps from a yard to the right. A single, top-hung casement window is located on the right gable, at first-floor level. According to the valuation revision book of 1908, the building's date of construction is suggested to be 1908. The stable now functions as farm buildings and sits within a complex which includes modern farm buildings and dwellings, all located at the end of a long lane.
