Description

This is a small-scale bridge located near Rosslea, County Fermanagh, likely dating from between 1820 and 1839. It is a typical example of its type and possesses some industrial archaeological interest. The bridge consists of a single, semicircular skew arch that spans a stream, carrying a one-and-a-half lane road. The arch springs directly from the bed of the stream. Constructed entirely of sandstone, the bridge features a soffit made of random rubble and finely dressed stone voussoirs. The remainder of the structure is of random rubble, with alternate coping stones raised for visual effect. The left upstream bank is faced with dressed sandstone blocks laid in courses. The bridge first appears on the 1834 Ordnance Survey 6-inch map and is also depicted on the 1859 edition.
