Description
This is a two-storey, three-bay house located on the south side of Crom Road in Newtownbutler, County Fermanagh. Although a building is depicted at this location on an 1834 Ordnance Survey map, the present house likely dates to around 1870. It is shown in its current form on a 1907 Ordnance Survey map. According to local information, the house was built by Dublin silversmith Patrick Donegan for his two sons, and shares a similar architectural form with a nearby house (HB 12-02-060).
The house is symmetrical in design, aligned southwest-northeast. It has a pitched artificial slate roof with pebble-dashed chimneys on each gable. Boxed eaves are supported by plastic rainwater goods. The walls are pebble-dashed with painted dressed stone quoins and a painted cement-rendered base course. The principal elevation faces northwest. The central bay features a modern timber door sheltered by a canopy with a hipped roof and cast-concrete Ionic columns. There are windows to the centre of the left and right bays on the ground floor. Above the ground floor openings are three windows, all of reduced height. Ground floor windows on each side of the left gable are flanked by windows. The rear elevation has a return abutting the left bay, rising to three-quarters of its height. A small side-hung casement window is present in the central bay of the ground floor, and the right bay has a matching window. First-floor windows are present in each bay, the central window being slightly taller than the left. The southeast face and the left cheek of the house each have a centrally positioned window; the right cheek contains a modern timber door. A window is set to the right of the right gable on the ground floor.
