Description
The Old Drumcru Bridge is a single segmental-span bridge, likely dating to the later 18th century (circa 1780-1799). It carries a field accommodation track over a stream, located just upstream of New Drumcru Bridge. The abutments are constructed from large, roughly-dressed limestone blocks. The bridge's voussoirs and spandrels are composed of split random rubble. The upstream half of the span has collapsed, and the parapets are no longer present. The bridge is in poor condition and heavily overgrown. It was marked on the 1834 Ordnance Survey 6-inch map and was superseded by New Drumcru Bridge and a new road alignment in the mid-19th century. The bridge is of industrial archaeological interest, and is currently recorded as derelict.
