Dwelling, Teer, Newtownbutler, Co Fermanagh, BT92 6GT

This is a single-storey vernacular dwelling located in Teer, Newtownbutler, Co Fermanagh. Constructed around 1860, it retains much of its original fabric and, together with the nearby dwelling at HB12/02/097, forms a pleasant roadside feature.

The house is aligned north-south with the gable end facing the road. It has a pitched roof covered in corrugated metal, with half-round metal rainwater goods. Two brick chimneys are positioned, one between each of the three bays. The walls are lime-rendered rubble stone. The principal, east-facing elevation features a windbreak porch with a monopitched corrugated metal roof, a T and G door, and blank cheeks to the left and right. A top-hung metal-framed casement window is positioned to the left of the porch, while the remaining bays each contain a 6/6 sliding sash window. A window opening is located to the right of the right-hand bay. The left and right gables are blank. The rear elevation has a window opening in the centre bay.

The site was unbuilt upon in 1834, with only a small east-west alignment building depicted on maps in 1857. By 1907, the house had assumed its current form. The building was valued at £1 in the 1862 Valuation. The architectural interest stems from its vernacular style, simple plan form, the quality and survival of its interior, and its setting. It also holds local historical interest.
