Description
The cottage, likely dating from between 1820 and 1839, was located in the townland of Gortnacarrow, Newtownbutler, Co. Fermanagh. Shown on the 1834 Ordnance Survey map, it was valued at £2 in the 1862 Griffith Valuation. According to a historical survey card from 1983, the cottage was a single-story thatched building with a modern brick cross-wall chimney and cement skews at the gables. The whitewashed walls were likely constructed of stone, with vertically divided double-hung windows featuring projecting cills. The cottage has since been demolished to make way for a replacement dwelling. It exhibited vernacular architectural characteristics.
