Description

A prehistoric stone circle, constructed before 1600, sits atop a rounded hill (drumlin) at Carn Hill, near Newtownbutler, County Fermanagh. The circle, approximately 30 metres in diameter, is built from irregularly-sized limestone rubble stones. The stones are closely spaced, but largely obscured by vegetation. The interior of the circle is used as rough grazing land and contains a small, off-centre standing stone (orthostat). The site, known as Druid's Temple, is marked on the 1834 Ordnance Survey six-inch map and is a Scheduled Monument (Ferm 272:6).
