Description
The gate lodge, likely built around 1860 when Ballyarnett House was extended, stood on Racecourse Road in Londonderry. It was demolished during the 1980s and replaced with a new dwelling. Originally described in a 1972 survey, the lodge was harled and colour-washed, with a hipped slated roof and a lean-to extension to the south. A two-light gabled extension was present to the west, and the windows featured cross glazing. The eaves were supported by paired modillions, with a central chimney. The gate lodge is not recorded in the Griffiths Valuation of 1858. The design was by Fitzgibbon Louch.
