Gate Lodge, Ballykelly Presbyterian Church, Ballykelly, Limavady, Co Londonderry, BT49 9HS

This is a restrained, neo-classical style gate lodge forming part of a group with the adjacent Ballykelly Presbyterian Church and graveyard. Built between 1820 and 1839, the lodge is a small single-story cottage constructed from sandstone to match the church. The entrance front faces the church forecourt and features a central door flanked by windows on either side. A further window is centrally placed in the gable facing the road, while the rear elevation has two blank windows. Each opening is surrounded by flat stone architraves, similar to those on the church, and are highlighted with white paint. The cottage has a hipped slated roof with a central stone chimney. An attached stone store, also with a hipped and slated roof, is located alongside the cottage. The plinth of the cottage and store is constructed from rubble whinstone. It is believed the lodge was designed by Richard Suitor and built by Turnbull, coinciding with the church’s original construction. The building was not inspected internally, currently serving as a gate lodge.
