Ballykelly Primary School, 8 Glenhead Road, Ballykelly, Limavady, Co Londonderry

Ballykelly Primary School is a post-war primary school constructed between 1966 and 1979. Designed by McCutcheon & Wilkinson of Ballymena, with John Wilkinson as partner in charge, and built by J Kennedy & Co of Macosquin, the original main block is a two-storey structure with a profiled, concrete tiled roof arranged in a T-plan. The facades are generally faced with pinkish concrete brick, with random basalt rubble used to highlight the entrances in the single-storey projections. The windows feature a combination of large and small openings, creating an appearance typical of 1960s school buildings. Initially designed to accommodate 11 classrooms, the building was subsequently extended to provide the current 20 classrooms for infants and juniors. This flat-roofed extension, measuring approximately 30 by 36 square meters, is attached to the southern end of the main block and includes a central, open garden court. While the exterior wall facings of the extension are similar to the main block, the detailing differs slightly. The property is owned by the Education Board and remains in use as a school.
