Termoncanice Old School, 113 Irish Green Street, Limavady, Co Londonderry

This is a late Victorian school building of simple and robust design, constructed in 1886. It holds local historical interest. The building is a tall, single-story structure built of sand cement, with a natural slate roof. It is situated in a school yard behind a stone wall, near the corner of Irish Green Street and Rathbrady Road.

The main gable of the building faces east onto Irish Green Street and has a plain overhanging barge and a tall brick chimney. A large, central, round-headed plaque proclaims "Termoncanice, School, 1886". Two small circular ventilators are visible at a high level within the roof space. A four-pane sash window is located on the north side, and a porch with a door and a smaller four-pane sash window are on the north gable overlooking the street. The lower return side has a smaller brick chimney and a twelve-pane sash window illuminating the interior. To the north, there are four tall four-pane sash windows and a modern glazed lean-to porch that abuts the boundary wall.

The rear (west) elevation mirrors the front, with similar architectural details including two high-level circular ventilators, an overhanging barge, and a chimney. A lean-to porch extends around the ground level, connecting to a modern hall projecting to the rear and south side of the building. This hall extends up one side of the school, meeting the return front of the building.

Originally built as a primary school operated by the Catholic parish, it was in use until the mid-1970s when the school relocated. The three classrooms were of equal size. The building is now used as a hall and is owned by the Roman Catholic Church.
