Description

Bessbrook House is a two-story, six-bay wide house likely dating from between 1800 and 1819. It is currently occupied as a private residence. The house has a slated roof pitched at 40 to 45 degrees and features four chimney stacks with coloured rendering and pebble dash. The south side of the building includes two large bays, one rectangular, the other canted. It is believed that the road line has shifted over time and originally passed on the south side of the house. John Ogilby occupied the house in 1781, and subsequent owners included the Hamilton, McCausland, Shannon, and McAtamney families.
