Cottages, 8 Victoria Road, Ballyhalbert, Newtownards, Co. Down, BT22 1DQ

A single-storey, vernacular terrace of cottages and outbuildings, likely constructed before 1834 and now partially dilapidated, is situated west of Ballyhalbert, set back from Victoria Road. The terrace is whitewashed with a gabled profile. The central house features an off-centre timber panelled door alongside a sliding sash window with vertical astragals to its right and two further windows to the left. The outbuilding to the southeast has three door openings, while the outbuilding to the northwest has one door opening. The southeast outbuilding has a dilapidated Bangor blue slate pitched roof, and the northwest outbuilding has a corrugated asbestos pitched roof. The house itself has a pitched roof covered with Bangor blue slates, four rendered chimney stacks, and a cast iron gutter. The site is shown on an Ordnance Survey map of 1834. Documentary evidence, including Ordnance Survey maps and valuation records from approximately 1835 and 1863 held at the Public Records Office of Northern Ireland, confirms the building’s presence. The cottages were originally used as a house, and are now in residential use.
