Standing stone, off Moat Road, Ballyhalbert, Newtownards, Co. Down, BT22 1D?

A standing stone dating from before 1600 is located in a field southwest of Ballyhalbert, near Newtownards, County Down. This substantial stone, measuring approximately 1.75 metres by 0.75 metres by 0.5 metres, stands at the edge of a field adjacent to Moat Road. Historical records indicate a possible discrepancy; the Ordnance Survey Memoirs of around 1833 describe a standing stone southwest of the village with different dimensions, suggesting a potential reference to another, now lost, antiquity. However, the current stone is shown on the Ordnance Survey Map of 1834. The stone is considered a monument and remains in situ. The site is owned by central government.
