Description
A former two-storey school master’s house, likely built around 1887, concurrently with the original Victoria School. The house, known as ‘Victoria House’, was demolished in 1988 and the site is now partially occupied by the new Victoria Primary School, constructed in 1988/89. The house was set back from the road behind the boundary wall of the adjacent school. It had a slated roof with gabled ends and shaped bargeboards. Yellow brick chimneys were present. The walls were rendered. The upper floor had three flat-roofed gabled dormer windows with shaped bargeboards, segmental arch heads, and horizontal astragals. The ground floor had two similar windows with segmental arch heads. A central, sheeted door was topped by a fanlight with two vertical astragals. The front of the building measured approximately 35 feet in width. It was originally in fair condition. The house was owned by the Education Board.
