Cronstown Farm, Cronstown Road, Cronstown, Newtownards, Co Down, BT23 3QS

The site represents the location of a former one and a half-story farmhouse, likely dating from the 1860s, situated on Cronstown Road, approximately 1.5 miles northeast of Newtownards, County Down. The farmhouse was demolished around 1990 and has been replaced by a modern dwelling.

The original farmhouse, as described on a first survey card, had a slated roof with gable ends. The chimneys were rendered and lined. The western front featured two ground floor and first-floor double-hung windows with horizontal astragals, and a central doorway with pilaster jambs, a plain, arched head, a keystone, a plain fanlight, and a glazed and panelled door. Ground floor and first-floor double-hung windows were also present in the south gable. Adjoining and adjacent farm buildings were also part of the original layout.

An Ordnance Survey map of 1834 showed a building on part of the site, but its plan differed from the house that stood there until its demolition. The revised map of 1858-60 showed a similar arrangement, indicating the farmhouse was likely constructed largely after 1860. The property is notably absent from valuation records of around 1836, suggesting it was of modest size and below rateable value.
