13 Main Street, Ballywalter, Newtownards, Co. Down, BT22 2PQ

This is a small, plain, two-storey, single-fronted terrace house likely constructed in the late 19th century, situated on the east side of Main Street in Ballywalter. The west-facing front elevation is asymmetrical, featuring a panelled timber door with a plain fanlight to the left, and a sash window with horizontal astragals (2/2) to the right. Matching sash windows are present on the first floor. At the rear, there is a large, single-storey, flat-roofed lean-to extension with modern windows and a door, and two windows at the first floor level matching the front. The slate roof is gabled and has a shared brick chimneystack to the south (shared with number 11). Cast iron rainwater goods are visible. The facade is rendered and painted.

Historical records indicate that a terrace occupied this site as early as 1834. Ordnance Survey Memoirs from 1837 described Ballywalter as containing low-slung, stone cottages, many of which were slated, plastered, and whitewashed. It is probable that the original terrace was mostly single-storey, and that this house was either heightened or newly built in the mid to later 19th century.
