Description

This is a pair of semi-detached houses, numbers 30 and 32 Riverside, Antrim, dating from the early 20th century, specifically 1904. They are of red brick construction with yellow brick detailing and slated roofs, featuring rebuilt red brick chimneys. The windows are rectangular timber sliding sash windows, with 1 over 1 and 2 over 1 sashes, incorporating horns. The doors are rectangular timber panelled and have diagonally sheeted backs. The west gable of number 32 is roughcast rendered. Number 28 has been demolished and replaced by three new houses. The buildings stand as part of a terrace facing the main street, with modern paving in front of the new houses at numbers 28a, b and c.

A large building is indicated on an Ordnance Survey map of 1832 on the site of what became number 28, while an Ordnance Survey map from 1857 and another from 1962 show the houses attached to a larger block. The datestone reads 1904. The buildings are located within the Town Parks townland and lie within a conservation area. They are privately owned and have been recorded as having group value.
