Description
Bellmount Lodge was a small, part-octagonal building with a rectangular extension to the rear, originally built for the Cunningham family between 1740 and 1759. It appeared on the Ordnance Survey map of 1832. A date of 1752 was inscribed on a nearby gate pier. The building’s walls were harled and whitewashed over stone, and the roofs were slated. Bellmount Lodge served as a gate lodge or screen. It was described in a 1971 survey as being boarded up and derelict. The building has since been demolished, and the site remains vacant. It was located within the Town Parks townland and lay within a conservation area.
