Description
Chetnole Lodge is a detached lodge dated 1870, located in Melbury Park. It features rubble-stone walls with a moulded Ham stone plinth and ashlar Ham quoins. The roof is covered with clay tiles and has stone gable copings, stone finials, and level moulded kneelers. There are stone stacks with moulded capstones, with three on the ridge and one on the east gable. The building is designed in an L-plan and has one and a half to two storeys.
The west elevation includes a square bay on the left side at ground level with three lights, while the remaining windows have two lights, all featuring ovolo-moulded stone mullions and frames. The windows have separate labels that are returned. Iron casements with glazing bars are present throughout. The elevation facing the road has a canted bay at ground level with one, two, and one light, maintaining the same detailing, along with a two-light window above. There are also two single windows located to the east of the porch. The porch, situated at the southeast angle, is three-sided, and the doorway has moulded jambs and a depressed-arch head, leading to a plank door from the 20th century.
