Description

Bedlam Lodge is a mid-19th century lodge constructed from squared and shaped coursed limestone, featuring a chamfered plinth and coped gables. It has a fish-scale tile roof with a stone and brick ridge stack. The building follows a T-shaped plan and is executed in a Domestic Tudor style. The single-storey lodge, with an attic, has a two-window front featuring one-, two- and four-light mullioned windows with hollow-chamfered elliptical-arched lights. A 19th-century plank door is set within a four-centred arched surround with a hood mould and carved labels, and is sheltered by a gabled porch. Additional mullioned windows are present on the sides and rear of the building. Attached to the rear are kitchen and outbuilding ranges, including a small dog kennel distinguished by a four-centred arch. The interior has not been inspected. The building’s group value stems from its contribution to the wider landscape.
