Housing estate at Coral Crescent etc, off Randalstown Road, Antrim

This is a small housing estate dating to the mid-1940s, built in a restrained modern style. The estate, located off the Randalstown Road in Antrim, comprises two-storey terraced houses laid out in parallel blocks, alongside a group of semi-detached houses. The buildings are constructed of rustic brick with concrete surrounds to the windows and doors. The roofs are either flat or monopitch. Windows are rectangular timber fixed lights with top-hung vents; some original windows are white painted, while others have been replaced with stained glass of varying patterns, and some later arched windows have been introduced. The estate is set within a pleasantly landscaped environment featuring lawns and mature trees. The housing estate was designed by T.F.O. Rippingham and built for the Admiralty; drawings are dated May 1944 and approved in February 1945. The estate has undergone a number of inappropriate alterations that detract from its original appearance.
