This is a group of three blocks of terrace houses, built as part of a “Soldiers and Sailors’ Housing Scheme” in the 1920s for returning servicemen. The houses were designed by the Northern Ireland Ministry of Finance Department of Works and Public Buildings. Documents indicate construction occurred around 1923. The terrace houses are two storeys in height and feature hipped roofs covered in regular courses of Bangor Blue slates. The walls are rendered, with some areas smooth and others dry-dashed using limestone chippings. Each block contains four houses. Each house includes oriel windows to the first floor, with rectangular windows featuring altered replacement frames, some with plate glass and others with small panes. Originally, flat canopies on brackets extended over the doorways, but some later porches have been added. All doors are later replacements. The houses stand facing the main street, set back slightly with small front gardens. The front boundary is formed by a combination of rendered walls and hedges. Later alterations have been detrimental to their appearance.
