Description

A two-storey three-bay house with rendered walls, slated roof, and a shop-front to the ground floor, forming part of a terrace of six houses. Main entrance faces east. Front elevation: Roof of Bangor blue slates in regular courses, two chimneys, one at each extremity, smooth rendered. Wall smooth rendered, lined and blocked, with raised quoins to left-hand extremity; cast iron gutter and downpipe. Windows to first floor are modern rectangular timber fixed lights with top-hung vents, set in plain reveals, with projecting cills. Openings to ground floor are from left to right: one window as previous to first floor; a rectangular timber panelled door with plain rectangular fanlight; a shop-front comprising a pair of large timber fixed lights of double glazing, in recessed cills, flanking a modern glazed timber door set in plain reveals, a panel of wall above shop-front has a projecting canted plane as a ground for a shop sign but none fixed in position. Rear elevation: two-storey with roof of Bangor blue slates in regular courses; smooth rendered chimneys to extremities of ridge; two new flush rooflights; PVC gutters and downpipes. Walls dry-dashed with pebbles and limestone chippings. Elevation three windows wide at first floor level: central one a rectangular timber casement with fixed light; two flanking windows, rectangular timber fixed light with top-hung vent. Ground floor to left of projection, a lean-to with rendered walls, corrugated iron roof, and timber double casement window. To right of projection, a ground floor window as on first floor above. Side wall of projection one window, similar, to left of flush wooden door. Concrete yard with a two-storey gabled building beyond, not included in listing; roof and walls similar to main house. Elevation of building in yard toward rear of house: two openings to first floor closed by ledged doors; two similar doors to ground floor with window between, large timber fixed light. Both gables blank. Elevation of building in yard toward High Street: one window to first floor, timber sliding sash, vertically hung, with horns, one horizontal glazing bar each sash; double garage doors, ledged, set in rendered surround, to ground floor. To left hand side, an entrance to yard with flush doors and corrugated iron roof. SETTING: The building stands in a terrace of six houses, within the built-up area of the village, facing directly onto the pavement, with an unobstructed view to the harbour across the main road.
