Description
This block of stable buildings, located 30 metres north of Manor Farmhouse, was constructed in 1875. It is made of local stone that has been cut and squared, with ashlar dressings and hipped slate roofs. The building has an 'F'-plan layout, featuring a single storey with a north block that has 7 plus 17 bays, a west wing with 7 bays, and an east wing with 6 bays. There are no windows, but small pierced cast iron grilles are set in plain ashlar surrounds. Segmental arched doorways are located between bays 4 and 5 and in bay 7 of the west wing, as well as in bays 4 and 13 of the main north block. In bay 9 of the north block, there is a similar doorway with a pointed cast iron window and a gable above it. Another doorway can be found in bay 1 of the east wing. The extended north wing features stable doors in bay 4 and a left door in a gablet to bay 7. The east and west wings are linked to form a substantial yard, enclosed by a cut and squared stone wall with shaped ashlar copings and openings in the centre. This building is part of a complete model farm complex from 1875 that has seen little alteration.
