Description

Manor House and Manor Farmhouse is a 17th-century manor house that has been modified and extended around 1725, with further alterations in the 19th century. The building is constructed from Doulting rubble with dressed quoins and features concrete double Roman tile roofs and restored brick stacks. It has a "U"-shaped plan with a double span roof over the central block, a hipped left side of the rear span, and projecting hipped wings. The facade displays Gothic style on the front and Classical style at the rear. The structure is two and a half storeys tall with a layout of 1:3:1 bays, featuring chamfered stone mullioned windows with two lights and glazing bars, each topped with a stone label. The central door opening is moulded and flanked by single light windows. The rear has five bays with 18-pane sash windows in moulded stone architraves, highlighted by keystones, and a door opening with a similar surround in the second bay. There are three additional bays set back to the left, with similar window styles. Inside, the Manor House boasts a fine early 18th-century well staircase with turned balusters, foliated tread brackets, and a rasped handrail, along with panelling on the inner wall of the stairwell. Manor Farmhouse retains 18th-century doors, panelling, and two fireplaces in the upstairs rooms.
