Description

This gateway, located about 175 metres south west of The Court, dates from the 19th century and features gate piers and gates. It is constructed from local lias stonework that is cut and squared, with wrought iron gates and standards. The square gate piers have reeded moulded caps and finials, which may be old pinnacles reused from St Mary's Church. The gates exhibit a mix of Gothic and classical styles, featuring pointed arched openwork standards, a curved top rail capped with spear heads, and a central opening with a cattle grid. This gateway is part of the setting of The Court and is also significant in the street context at this location.
