Description
The forecourt wall, piers, and gates to The Court House date from the late 18th century, with the gates added in the 20th century. The wall is made of high squared and coursed rubble, topped with a plain coping. There is a broad segmental headed archway at the entrance, which has a dressed stone surround and prominent imposts. Above the archway is a ball finial. The wall extends approximately 11 meters to the west along St Marys Street from the gateway, ending in a tall ashlar pier with a pyramidal cap. To the east, the wall continues for 3 meters into the grounds of St Marys Cottage, which is not included in this listing. The entrance features decorative central wrought iron gates.
