Description

The West Lydford War Memorial is a First World War memorial dating from around 1920. It is made of concrete and has a square plan. The memorial features a carved Celtic cross that sits on a tapering shaft, which is placed on a tapered plinth with a three-stepped base below. On the east face of the plinth, there is an inscription that reads, "TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN GRATEFUL MEMORY/ OF THE MEN FROM/ WEST LYDFORD/ WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 - 1919/ (NAMES)".
