Description

Bridge Farmhouse is a farmhouse, with a core likely dating from an earlier period, but with a datestone inscribed "IE 1637" in a rear fireplace indicating activity in 1637. It was significantly altered and extended in the late 19th century, including re-fenestration. The farmhouse is constructed of coursed and squared lias stone, with a moulded plinth band and moulded eaves cornice. It has a slate roof with coped verges and brick stacks. The original design was based on a three-unit and cross-passage plan, with a stair turret at the rear.

The farmhouse is two storeys and an attic, with three bays. It features four-light stone mullioned windows with ovolo moulding, and continuous weathered strings above the window heads. The main entrance is between the second and third bays, framed by a moulded stone surround with a depressed four-centred arch, leading to a six-panelled door, the upper four panels glazed. An inner room gable fireplace has a moulded stone surround.
