Description
This listing describes a group of structures including two footbridges, a sheep dip, an aqueduct, and a waterwheel, located about 15 metres southeast of Townsend Farmhouse in East Quantoxhead. Likely dating from the late 18th century, these features extend approximately 30 metres in total. The materials used are blue lias random rubble.
Starting from the southern end, there is a pointed arch single span footbridge that crosses a stream, featuring saddle back coping. Next, there is another single arched span footbridge without a parapet that overlooks a triangular sheep dip area of the stream, which is backed by a two-bay aqueduct to the northeast, also with pointed arches. To the north, there are remains of a small overshot iron waterwheel, with a single spar bridge adjoining it at right angles. This collection of structures is a rare survival.
