Description
The Millard monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, 3 metres east of the chancel of the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It dates from the 17th century and is made of Ham stone. The tomb features a simple moulded base on a step, with plain sides and flanks, and a heavy flat top that has cyma-recta moulded coving. The monument commemorates two individuals, with the inscription stating, "Here lyeth the body of John Millard alias Bradford who was buried 22nd March 1622. Here lyeth the body of Marie Haberfield, the wife of John Haberfield who was buried the 4th day of June AD 1625." The connection between John Millard and Marie Haberfield is unknown.
