Description

Bridge Cottage is a detached cottage, likely dating to the 17th century or earlier. It’s constructed from roughly cut and squared local lias stone, with a thatched roof; the south gable is half-hipped, and the north gable is plain, with brick end and intermediate chimney stacks. The cottage has a 'T' plan, consisting of a single storey with an attic, and 4 bays. It has casement windows with cross glazing bars, believed to be from the early 19th century, set beneath chamfered and moulded timber lintols at the lower level. A boarded door is located in a moulded frame to bay 2, sheltered by a 20th-century stone, timber, and tiled porch. A small, single-storey, thatched lean-to extends from the left side of bay 1, and another single-storey thatched extension is at the rear. The interior was not inspected.
