Description
The Curtis monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, one metre north of the chancel of the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Ashill Village. It dates from the 17th century and is made of Ham stone. The tomb features a moulded base with plain sides and flanks, and it has a heavy flat top with cyma-recta coving. This monument commemorates William Curtis, who died in 1669 and was described as a 'servant to Sir George Speke Kt,' along with his family, who served for over 60 years.
