Description

Nos 8 and 8A on St James Street are probably from the early 19th century and consist of three storeys. The building features a mixture of white and red brick and has a hipped old tiled roof with eaves. There are three windows, although the central window spaces are blocked, and the windows are sashes with glazing bars. A central round-headed doorway leads to Anstey Place at the rear, which includes a traceried fanlight and a six-panel door. The late 19th-century shop front has fluted pilasters on the right. Nos 5 to 8 (consecutive) and 8A form a group with Nos 2A, 3, and 4, which are of local interest.
