Description

This is an unidentified chest tomb from the 17th century located one metre south of the vestry at the Church of St George in Sampford Brett. It is made of sandstone and was largely covered in ivy during the survey in November 1983, but it may still be largely intact beneath the foliage. The tomb features fluted pilasters on all sides, which divide the north and south faces into two bays each. The inscriptions on the tomb are illegible.
