Description
The north and west walls enclosing the garden immediately west of Tintinhull House are likely from the 18th century. They are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring a Ham stone plinth, copings, and piers. The west wall is approximately 1.5 metres high, while the north wall reaches about 2.5 metres. Both walls curve up to tall piers located at their mid-length and to smaller piers that flank a path, which was formerly a gateway, aligned with the west facade of the house. The piers have moulded plinths, square shafts made of Ham stone ashlar, a frieze band, and flat cornice mould tops. The lower piers stand about 2.25 metres high, while the taller piers are around 3 metres high and are topped with stone eagles that have unfurled wings. These walls are an important feature in the setting of Tintinhull House, particularly in relation to the garden, which is also of special interest and included in the Register of Parks and Gardens.
