Description
Girdlers is a detached house dated 1766, constructed from cut and squared ham stone with ashlar dressings. It features a Welsh slate roof with stepped coped gables and rendered brick end chimney stacks. The house has two storeys and three bays. The plain mullioned windows have beaded surrounds and shallow architraves, all being three-light with rectangular leaded panes and iron-framed opening lights. The lower bay two has a boarded door with a matching surround, accessed by three steps, and is sheltered by a hipped timber and shingled hood. Above the door is a datestone inscribed 'T/PA/1766'. The east gable includes a 19th-century casement window, with similar windows found in the rear extensions. Although the interior was not seen, it is reported to have a cross-passage two-room plan and a collar and tie-beam roof. The rear features two pointed-arched windows.
