Description
No 28 is a cottage located at the end of a row, set back from the others to the west. It dates from the early 19th century and features a near-ashlar facade made of ham stone, with coursed rubble on the sides and rear. The roof is covered with Welsh slate and has a stepped coped gable to the east, with brick chimney stacks at the ends. The building is two storeys high and has three bays. The windows are beaded mullioned with three lights, set in plain ashlar surrounds, and have rectangular leaded glass with iron-framed opening lights. The lower bay two features a plain boarded door set in a recess with a beaded surround. The east gable is plain, and there is a lean-to at the rear. The interior has not been seen. Approximately 2 metres north of the house, there are wrought-iron railings with spearpoint tops, set on a low stone wall. Opposite the doorway is a matching gate with semi-circular braces, and the supporting iron posts have urn finials. There is an angled return to the north-east corner of the house.
