Description
Rose Cottage is a cottage located on Main Road, dating from the 18th to 19th century. It is constructed from local grey lias stone that is cut and squared, with the northern end made of red brick. The roof features double Roman clay tiles with simple gables on the southern half and thatch on the northern half, complemented by brick chimney stacks. The building consists of four bays; bays one and two are two storeys high, while bays three and four are single storey with an attic, indicating they were built separately. Bays one and two have early 20th-century casement windows, with the lower window in bay one set under stone lintels. The lower bay two features a boarded door in a simple opening. Bays three and four have three-light horizontal bar casement windows below, and bay three has a two-light plain casement set in a thatched dormer above. The interior has not been seen. Rose Cottage is attached on the southern side to Duchess Cottage.
