Description
Greyfriars is a semi-detached house dating from the 17th century, with remodels from the late 18th to early 19th century. The facade features cut and squared Ham stone, while the sides and rear are made of a mix of Ham stone and coursed lias rubble, with the north bay entirely of lias stone. The roof is covered with Welsh slate and has stepped coped gables, along with brick chimney stacks at each end. The house has two storeys and four bays. The upper level has alternating three and two-light plain casement windows, while the lower level features plain mullioned three-light windows set within simple architraves. In the lower bay two, there is a part-glazed Gothic-style door located in a recess with a beaded surround, and there is a slight breakback to bay four. The rear has an outshut. Although the interior has not been seen, a cross passage plan is illustrated, showing three rooms or two extended rooms, with the main fireplace backing onto the passage and some surviving crossbeams.
