Description
This is a derelict house located directly opposite Langdons. It dates from the 16th century, with alterations from the 18th and 19th centuries. The structure is made of coursed and squared rubble, topped with a corrugated-iron sheeting roof and featuring three brick ridge stacks. The house is two storeys high and likely has three bays, although the front is covered in ivy. It has a through-passage plan, and the visible windows are 19th-century, three-light casements. There is a door opening to the through-passage with a plank door, and a corresponding door opening at the rear of the passage, which has a shouldered peak-headed architrave and a plank door with ornamental iron strap hinges. Inside, the ground floor features deeply chamfered and stopped ceiling beams, and the central room has a panelled ceiling. There are at least two fireplaces with broad wooden bressumers, and the ground floor is laid with stone setts. The roof is of cruck construction, likely altered in the 19th century. The building is currently in very poor condition, making a full inspection impossible due to safety concerns.
