Description
Axe Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed from ham stone ashlar and near-ashlar, with Welsh slate roofs that feature stepped coped gables and brick chimney stacks. The building has two storeys and is arranged in a 2+3 bay configuration.
The northern section, likely from the 19th century, is set lower and consists of two bays. It features hollow-chamfer mullioned windows in charred recesses, with rectangular-headed windows on the first floor that are three-light without labels, and on the ground floor that are four- and three-light with labels. To the left of the first bay, there is a 20th-century part-glazed door in a plain opening.
The southern section is probably from the 18th century, with a higher roof that has a shallower pitch. It includes 12-pane sash windows in plain openings. In the lower bay two, there is a part-glazed door with a fanlight set in a semi-circular arched opening, which is protected by a gabled open stone porch featuring a semi-circular outer arch. The interior has not been seen.
